Welcome to CalmLingo. By using our app, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

These terms describe what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how the relationship works when you listen, learn, and save content in CalmLingo. They apply to the mobile app, related websites we operate, and any future features that reference this document.

1. Using CalmLingo

CalmLingo is designed to support language learning through calm, guided listening experiences.

The Service is meant as a companion for your day: stories, dialogues, podcasts, meditations, and similar audio that help you hear the language in context. It is not a replacement for formal instruction or professional advice. We grant you a personal, revocable right to access and use the app in line with these terms—not a sale of the software or content.

You agree to:

  • Use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes only
  • Provide accurate information when setting preferences
  • Not misuse, copy, or interfere with the app or its content

“Non-commercial” means you do not resell access, scrape the catalogue for redistribution, or use CalmLingo as the backbone of a competing product without our written permission.

2. Accounts & Preferences

You may personalize your experience (e.g., language, level, listening times). You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your settings.

Your preferences help us tailor what you see and hear—everything from difficulty to the kinds of listening blocks we suggest. Keeping them up to date makes the experience more useful and reduces mismatches between what you want to practice and what we recommend.

We may use your preferences to:

  • Customize recommendations
  • Improve your learning experience
  • Deliver scheduled rituals and content

For example, listening-time or ritual settings may be used to surface reminders or flows that match the routines you have chosen inside the app. We do not use preferences for purposes unrelated to running and improving CalmLingo unless we tell you otherwise (for example, where the law requires a separate consent).

3. Content & Learning Experience

All content (stories, dialogues, podcasts, meditations) is provided for educational purposes only.

Materials are selected and produced to support comprehension, exposure, and enjoyment—not medical, therapeutic, or legal guidance. If you rely on any phrase or translation for important real-world decisions, please verify with a qualified professional or native speaker when it matters.

We do not guarantee:

  • Specific learning outcomes
  • Fluency within a certain timeframe

Progress depends on individual practice and consistency.

Everyone’s path is different: prior knowledge, attention, and how often you listen all affect results. We may update, rotate, or remove catalogue items to keep the library fresh or for legal and licensing reasons.

4. Saved Words & Data

You may save words, examples, and preferences within the app.

Saved items are part of your personal study history. They sync and persist according to your account and the storage architecture we describe in our Privacy Policy. You should assume that deleting content or an account may not always be reversible once processing completes.

Please note:

  • Removing saved words may delete associated examples
  • Your saved data is tied to your account

If you share a device, anyone with access to your unlocked phone may see in-app data unless you sign out or use device-level protections. Protect your account credentials accordingly.

5. Acceptable Use

We want CalmLingo to stay a calm, safe place for learners. These rules protect the community, our infrastructure, and the rights of people who create content.

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer or copy the app
  • Use the app for harmful, illegal, or abusive purposes
  • Attempt to disrupt the service

Prohibited behaviour includes automated bulk downloading, attempting to bypass access controls, harassing other users through any feature we offer, or uploading malware. Violations can lead to immediate suspension and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.

6. Availability

We aim to provide a smooth, calming experience, but we do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted access
  • Error-free performance

Features may change or improve over time.

Maintenance, third-party outages (for example, cloud or app-store infrastructure), and your own network or device limits can all affect playback. We appreciate your patience when something breaks—we work to restore service and will communicate material issues when practical.

7. Termination

We may suspend access if these terms are violated.

You may stop using CalmLingo at any time.

Suspension or deletion of your account may limit or permanently remove access to saved words and history, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law. You can usually uninstall the app without contacting us; account-level deletion may require using in-app settings or support.

8. Limitation of Liability

CalmLingo is provided "as is."

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties that are not mandatory in your jurisdiction. That includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, except where such disclaimers are not allowed.

We are not liable for:

  • Learning outcomes
  • Data loss outside our reasonable control
  • Temporary service interruptions

This section reflects that language learning is inherently individual: we cannot promise exam scores, employment outcomes, or emotional states. For data, we work to industry-typical standards, but events such as catastrophic failures at a vendor or your own device loss may still result in gaps. Nothing here is meant to exclude non-waivable rights you may have under consumer laws in your country.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms occasionally.

Continued use of the app means you accept the updated terms.

When changes are significant, we may notify you through the app, by email to the address on your account, or by updating the “Last updated” line at the top of this page. If you do not agree to the new terms, you should stop using CalmLingo and, where available, delete your account.
